The HGO Finally Returns to Its Home After the Devastation of Hurricane Harvey

Thirty years ago, Houston Grand Opera celebrated the opening of the Wortham Theater Center with Verdi’s masterpiece Aida, starring Plácido Domingo as Radames. This September, Domingo returns to take the Wortham stage for HGO and Plácido—Coming Home, a gala evening celebrating the company’s return to its creative home after a year of displacement following Hurricane Harvey.

Joined by beloved Houston soprano Ana María Martínez and the HGO Orchestra conducted by HGO Artistic and Music Director Patrick Summers, Domingo will perform an evening of operatic and popular musical favorites.

The concert will be followed by a celebration dinner in the Ballroom at Bayou Place. All proceeds from the evening will benefit HGO’s post–Hurricane Harvey activities. Join us for this magical night celebrating the much-awaited return to our creative home!

At Aria at Rollingbrook Apartments in Baytown, Texas, we believe it’s important to integrate yourself into the community, which is why we suggest attending this event. Meeting new people, having unfamiliar experiences, and joining neighborhood activities is the key to an exceptional lifestyle.
